How to Create a Calming Morning Routine That Sets the Tone for Your Day

Mornings shape our mindset. The way we start our day
normally dictates how we carry out all the ensuing business. A disorganised
frantic beginning causes stress and fatigue. However, a relaxed and deliberate
morning ritual can help us become more grounded, productive and emotionally
level. The following is how to build a mindful morning routine that would
benefit your daily well-being.
1. Wake up Purposefully, not with Alarm
It is best to wake up not to the loud ring of the alarm, but
more softly or with a sunrise alarm clock, which simulates the natural
daylight. Have a few deep breaths before you get out of the bed and put a
single day intent.
Why it helps : Slowing down at the beginning of the day can help you mitigate the
sharp increase in cortisol and facilitate the gradual shift of the body to the
state of activity.
2. Take time to think
Take the time to keep a journal or to meditate (5-10
minutes). This does not have to be complicated. Write things you are thankful
of or even sitting back and watching your breath.
Bonus tip: If you are spiritual try to use this to pray or read a brief
devotional.
3. Gently Move Your Body
Light movement you can include here that will help to calm
your mind quickly- stretch, yoga, or an aerated walk. Stretching during the
morning provides activation of your muscles and allows them to feel energized.
Pro Tip: You do not have to sweat. Stretching to soft music in a 5-minutes
period can work miracles.
4. Fuel on a Healthy Breakfast
A healthy breakfast will consume healthy food to get energy
such as fresh fruit, oats, nuts, smoothies or eggs. Never begin your day by
having sugary cereal or snacks.
Hydrate first: Have a glass of water
(or lemon water) before any coffee/tea.
5. Reduce the Digital Distraction
Trying to avoid checking phone and emails until you get through the routine. The world can wait some few minutes of your attention to self.
Mindful suggestion: You can set your phone to Do Not Disturb mode in case you use it with music or meditations.
- 630am: Wake up using soft music
- 6:35am: Establish the intention of the day
- 6:45am: Journaling 5mins
- 6:55am: Stretching or yoga
- 7:10am: Healthy breakfast + water
- 7:30am: Energize your day with a concentrated mind
Final Thoughts
An effective morning routine to relax does not
have to take much time and be multicomponent. Get one good habit and elaborate
upon it. It is aimed at making room in your life in front of the world.
Remember: It is worth keeping in mind that your daily morning routine tends to
turn into the pattern of your life.
